puzzle pieces

in art we've been working with shapes so in this puzzle piece we worked with some shapes and watercolor. the color I chaise for this are blue, green, and purple. I did a variety of circles, squares, and triangles over this puzzle piece. I did the background a lighter color to make the shapes stand out more. in the shapes that I painted blue or green I chose purpose to do the over lap..and vise versa. there are a variety of different sized shapes.

lines

as I said in my last post we've recently been working with lines. so we just did a few examples of different direction and curved lines to kinda familiarize ourselves with them..so here are mine!

analyzing op art

in our art class we've recently been working with different types of lines. today we were told to find an original piece of op art. I chose the piece below done by victor vasarely in the year 1960 called 'riu kiu c' I chose this art piece because I like how simple the lines look but how complex the piece looks, as a while it it hard to look at..but if you look close you can see that all the lines are just simple horizontal and vertical lines. since the lines change direction so often certain sections of the piece appear to have diagonal lines incorporated into it..but there are none. another thing I like about this piece is how all the lines are the same width but the way they are drawn certain lines appear to be further behind other lines. I also like how there appears to be diamonds, triangles and squares in the piece of art. well there's my opinions on this art!

line face art

okay so over the past two or three days my class has been working on some line art using contour lines to display like depth and stuff. so I'm gonna post a few pictures about the steps that lead up to the final product and what I was doing in the pictures!

okay in the first picture we had to do a 'squishy' face so it would be more interesting, here's mine hahha!

in the second picture I had started doing some contour lines over my arms on the black an white picture mrs.rose printed up for me!

in the third picture I had finished all the contour lines in pencil that I had wanted to do.

and finally in my last picture is the final product of the contour line art. after we had all of pencil lines on our pictures we had to trace them with a fine tip black marker. while I was doing this I decided to add lines in my hair aswell to make the picture look more dramatic.

I think the hardest part of this was probably determining wether to use horizontal or vertical lines in certain sections.

3D hand art

Today in art class we had a supply teacher and so we did this sort of easy but cool project. It was really our first art project of the year, I've seen this done on Pinterest a few times before but I never got the opportunity to try it out myself and our whole class did today so that was pretty cool. Working on it was difficult though because you couldn't really see the progress you were making until you had the final product done. But all in all I think that it was a good first art project! Anyways here it is..and I hope everyone likes it!:)

First Blog Post

Okay so I dont really know how this whole blog thing works, but oh well here I go. Mrs. Rose told us to say how we feel about art and like our definition and eveything so... my definition of art is pretty much anything and everything, I think that art can vary from paintings to sculptures to landscaping. I think art is anything that a person creates or influences changes in. Art is beautiful in many different ways and can be interpreted differently by everyone. This is why I think that art is so interesting, there are no borders, no limitations, and you can do anything you put your mind to. Well there it is, my first post. :)
